Neither image excites me but I did promise I'd show you what I came up with. Perhaps you might want to try a similar exercise. The egg, by the way, was photographed sitting on a toilet paper roll. It had been my intention to photographit sitting on top of the tines of three forks but I'm going to have to find a better way to support the forks than I have so far. Silly putty or even plaster comes to mind.

Kudos for following through on some tough self-imposed assignments! However, contrary to your take on the second image, I find it absolutely striking! Its tack sharp, compositionally very strong, invites a look and then its details grab the viewer's attention, and leaves a whimsical afterthought (and a bit of mystery) in the viewer's mind, as it is balanced between a (literally) B&W graphic and a (traditional) B&W fine-art image. Very, very nice!
