George, I’m enjoying the current string of photos very much. As I studied this image and tried the exercise of sketching the major lines and shapes, I began to see the subtler, secondary lines that strengthen and reinforce the image. In particular the darker semi-circle of stone on the right edge, that repeats and brackets the circular shape of the main circular form in the center. I would have missed it if I hadn’t spent the time to try and “read” the image. I certainly would have missed it in the field. Thanks for both posting it and prompting me to go read your books again after seeing these last several posts. Just the inspiration I needed to make me dust off my camera and work for a serious image.
