More coal mining equipment. It was tempting to keep it in colour as the equipment was orange with rust, but I felt it was a bit too much and distracting from the interesting shapes.

I think I like this one best, although the pic with two tires has also grabbed my eye. I think ANY of these would have worked in black and white, but this one works especially well.
George, there you go again, talking about color distracting from some other element of a composition. That you are concerned about this, indicates that you have a (hopefully inaccurate) conception of your intended audience, i.e., that our viewing is so undisciplined that we will be easily distracted.
