Container Ship Bow Black and White

Vancouver Harbour in February, shot from the water on a chartered boat. Despite the sense of movement, the ship is in fact at dock and loading containers at the time (I wasn't that crazy). I like the straight on bow image seen on the blog previously but I also really like this image in black and white.

Great shot! I have a comment and an implicit question (to be explicit;-)...the small triangular hint of paint slightly to the right of center way at the top, and the larger, and more obvious "stamp" at top right. Without them, the image attains a decidedly abstract quality; with them, it is subtlety grounded in reality. *Assuming* that the abstract is what the artist had intended, or (now I'm thinking of my implicit question to you...) is something the artist is "thinking about" in altering what otherwise would be a clearly representational image, what is to be done with the "outliers" of the image? Personally, I would have no trouble (aesthetically or morally) with removing the sliver of paint that is irelevent on most levels; but I'd have to think twice about the larger seal.emblem, as it encroaches on tampering with the integrity of the image. I know this is not really a "photojournalism" debate, since this is fine-art, but the issue still holds (at least I've thought about enough times to know I have no ready answer...BTW: if you saw my "rock" a few Blog postings ago, I left in a bit of graffiti on the RHS that plays the same role the stamp does on yours). Just curious on your take on this question (and whether, in *this* case, removing the minor eye irritants might render your already wonderful image even more abstract and majestic)?
