Inferno

This is a different picture of the same trunk that supplied the black and white image of the other day. This too is a crop.

Another point to be considered in cropping is that with a 35 mm. slr view finder, exact cropping is difficult - even with a view finder as accurate as the one on the 1Ds2 - giving yourself just a little room will slightly reduce maximum print size, ever so slightly over cropping in camera can ruin a picture. Mind you, we're talking an extra 2% around the image just to be safe, not 30%.

I really enjoy images like this...very similar in concept to the rock art images you had spoken about a week or two ago. It might be interesting to assemble a portfolio of these type of abstracts derived from objects of nature.

Okay, George, this image brings up another question. How do you, personally, decide whether a photo remains in color or gets converted to b/w?

I hope you don't mind the questions, I'm just trying to give you topic ideas so you don't get bored and start shooting photos of your underwear on the floor :)
