Limits Have Their Uses

While I recently argued that restricting your aspect ratio to the one supplied by the viewfinder or ground glass is limiting and that images which would be best served in alternate aspect ratios are being missed, yz made the point that training yourself to use the full image size is good training. I absolutely agree. Further, other limits can be a good idea too - deciding that today you are only going to use a 'normal' lens or only going to take close ups or only work with your wide angle are all potentially useful exercises. First learn to fill the frame, then learn to trim two edges as needed. Works for me.
